photo nights

All my best photography lately (in my mind at least) has been happening at night. I am excited about these new images but I am honestly totally lost when it comes to working them through in photoshop (any advice is welcomed). I am also becoming continuously more aware of the limitations of my camera. I have been fantasizing about the 50D and the 5D Mark II. Oh if only! But of course then I am wondering if I am trying to fix an inspiration issue with a fancy camera? Maybe? It is always more comforting to blame it on the machine rather than the operator.

Well heres some work (please keep in mind that these are in no way editted to completion at this point!)

turn the long exposure noise reduction on in your camera. it will take twice as long to expose everything as the camera basically combines your exposure with a black exposure (crazy shit) but it works pretty well, i've got a 25 minute exposure shot at iso200 that looks decent.

much love

The excitement of a new toy can spur one to go forth and venture a new idea or two just because you think the new machine will allow you to do things you couldn't in the past. But you are correct that it is more an operator problem than a machine problem. Just think back to when your 10-22 was new -- look what you did with that!!! However with motivation lacking, there is little to be done to get the creative juices flowing.....other than a passion for making images no matter what.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

One more thought -- I have always made it a MUST that I do something photographic everyday. Friend of mine (Billie) calls it "photoing." Doesn't mean taking pictures everyday, but does mean doing something that is purely photographic in nature, and that has to do with your images.

I know what you mean about the new camera. I think has a point though, might help!

Also, I think these pictures are beautifully done. I know you may not see it now but I really think they are beautiful images of your house.

Hope you have a good thanksgiving.
